Our ANTI-RACISM Framework
-
Community
Community development requires addressing systemic and individual changes at the residential level. A person or community should not be allowed to advance by causing harm or the downfall of another. Harmful tactics involving surveillancing individuals or groups to uphold systems that gain privilege by gatekeeping resources and access to disrupt the possibility of building equitable environments must be dismantled.
Description: Establishing community well-being involves creating safe environments for all members to thrive. Building strong, supportive communities that stand against racism must be at the core of its function. The ability must exist that members can convene in safe spaces for smaller interest groups within the larger community so as long as the purpose of the meetings does not intentionally harm others.
Objectives: Foster community engagement and solidarity, create spaces for sharing experiences and supporting each other, and encourage community-led initiatives against racism. Accept others who are different without mandating conformity. Allow members of the community to exist as they are so long as no one is being harmed.
Impact: Strengthens social bonds at the individual and group societal level to create a sense of belonging for all and creates a united front against racism.
